“Abilify” (Otsuka Pharmaceutical and Bristol-Myers Squibb) was found guilty of providing financial incentives to pediatric physicians in order to promote the prescription of the drug to minors.

At the time, Abilify was not approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for pediatric use.

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved Abilify as “safe and effective” for the treatment of the following disorders:

October 2007: Schizophrenia (ages 13-17)

February 2008: Bipolar I Disorder (ages 10-17)

November 2009: Irritability associated with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ages 6-17)

December 2014: Tourette’s Syndrome (ages 6-17)
